When to Take Measurements
It is important that the edema is at its most reduced state. Most often this is found first thing in the morning or at the end of treatment.

How to Take Length Measurements
Length measurements will be necessary between some circumference points. It is recommended that you mark the hand with a non-permanent, non-toxic marker at the necessary circumference points.

Measurement Points
Circumference point 'a' is found across the metacarpus.

Circumference point 'c' is found distally on the arm where the wrist meets the hand. You should find the smallest circumference at this point.

Circumference point 'e' corresponds to the area of the elbow over the center of the joint, also referred to as the cubital crease.

Circumference point 'g' corresponds to the highest part of the arm where the crease of the armpit exists. Make certain that the circumference is perpendicular to the axis of the arm.
